We're Odd Pear Studio — small, independent, and trying to make dating suck a little less. Our first release is Twyne: a dating app built around genuine connection instead of endless swiping.
About the studio
At Odd Pear Studio, we're just a couple of devs who believe in the power of technology — not to divide, but to provide. More ways to create the thing we're all craving: genuine human connection. That's why we spent the time to build Twyne. (We swear we're not trying to rhyme this much.)
For a lot of folks, the dating app marketplace is a cesspool. It doesn't have to be — the problem is how these apps are designed. Like most social media, they're built to capture your attention and commoditize it: either the free tier runs you through endless ads, or you pay just to swipe more and boost your visibility in someone else's feed.
These apps farm your attention, and by design, encourage exactly the wrong behavior while dating. Likes, swipes, roses, boosts, matches — they throw so much at daters that we stop valuing our interactions, flooded in a sea of options, never really giving anyone a fair shot. We think that sucks, and we think there's a better way forward.
So we built Twyne, and we're asking you to try things a little differently with us. Maybe if we all went a little slower, we'd notice more of the common threads between us — and who knows, maybe even Twyne up.
Twyne
Twyne is completely free to use while you're looking for your match — no fees to browse, swipe, or get seen. Here's the twist: once you and someone else both match with each other, all of your other likes disappear. The only person you can chat with is your new Twyne.
Getting to know that person is where our simple flat monthly subscription comes in — it grants you 30 days to chat and connect. After that, you can renew, or unmatch and start your search again (fair warning: your previous likes are gone for good).
It's not enough to ask daters to approach things differently — we had to as well. We don't charge you a cent to find people you like, and we don't charge to get more eyes on your profile. We only earn our keep when you and someone else actually match. Our incentives are aligned with yours: we're focused on creating real connections, because that's the only way we keep the lights on.
